Papua Provincial Government Officially Transfers Rp329 Billion in Assets to Papua Highlands Government

InfoMatoa, Jayapura | The Papua Provincial Government has officially handed over movable and immovable assets worth Rp 329,222,543,513 in the second phase to the Government of Papua Highlands Province, as part of the follow-up to the establishment of a new autonomous region (DOB) in accordance with statutory mandates.

Papua Governor Mathius D. Fakhiri said in Jayapura on Monday that the transfer of assets is an obligation of the parent province to the newly established province.

“The assets transferred include land, buildings, bridges, roads, as well as movable assets such as vehicles and ambulances,” he said after the handover ceremony, which took place in the meeting room of the Papua Governor’s Office in Jayapura City on Monday.

According to Mathius, several movable assets that are currently located in other regions will also be transferred in line with prevailing regulations.

“Assets that have been handed over may no longer be retained by the Papua Provincial Government, as Papua Highlands Province has been legally established. Therefore, this administrative adjustment process is continuously being carried out,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Papua Highlands Governor John Tabo expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the asset transfer, noting that all assets received were accompanied by complete official documentation.

“With this transfer, the burden on the new provincial government will be reduced, including obligations related to tax payments and maintenance costs. This represents a positive step by the Papua Provincial Government in orderly asset management,” he said.

According to John, the process also serves as a good example for all institutions, including civil servants and other government organizations, that state assets must be managed and transferred in accordance with applicable regulations.

“These assets will certainly be utilized as optimally as possible for the benefit of the people of Papua Highlands,” he added.
